Many people think that getting financial freedom is a given if they were to be their own boss. What do you think about this idea? Are you keen to be an entrepreneur?
Having your own business is ambitious and something you should definitely pursue!
What steps would you follow when setting up or growing your business?
No matter what you believe the best ways are to succeed as an entrepreneur, it all comes back to you. The things you believe about entrepreneurship comes from your thinking, and at the center of it all is your brain.
The Secret to Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur
Are you ready for the secret to success?
It’s much simpler (and more complex) than you may think: The secret is your brain.
Yes! Your gray matter is the difference between success and failure. All you need to do is to use it… properly.
If you knew a shortcut to get something done, then you would probably use it. Take this article as an example. We promised you a secret to faster success, which is a type of shortcut, so you clicked it.
There is nothing wrong with looking for shortcuts. You need to know something about them, though: They are your brain’s way to automate thinking.
See, your brain doesn’t like to waste energy, so it looks for the shortest path to get things done. This becomes ingrained in your brain and thinking which can be good and bad.
Shortcuts: Good or Bad?
Shortcuts aren’t inherently bad—you want that automatic thinking so that you can step out of the road when you suddenly see a car swerving toward you.
In contrast, you don’t want shortcuts interfering when you have to make important business or life decisions. You need to think critically and logically about these things, so you have to work hard against automatic thinking. That is hard! It requires energy, and your brain fights against it.
Changing Your Thinking
Once you become aware of automatic thinking, you can start to work against it so that you can mentally process different pieces of information better. Changing your brain is the number one secret to obtaining success faster.
Your brain is neuroplastic which simply means it can change over time; it isn’t hardwired. You can take steps to alter your automatic thinking so that it doesn’t contain biases or logical fallacies.
The way you think ultimately determines what you do in life. It affects how you do things, why you do them, and underpins your motivation. Being an entrepreneur is challenging, but you can remove many obstacles by using your cognitive power.
Visualize Your Dream Life
Do you believe that you can be a successful entrepreneur?
If you didn’t give a resounding YES! to that question, then you have some doubt about your abilities. It means your unconscious beliefs do not align with your conscious beliefs.
It could be that you feel you have a worthwhile product or service but don’t have the resources to serve the customers properly. It might be that you believe in your abilities but believe naysayers who doubt you.
These contrasting beliefs won’t get you anywhere. It’s simply your automatic thinking kicking in; now that you know about it, you can fight against it and alter your thinking for good.
Your Set Point
Mentally, you have a set point for everything in life. It is your comfort zone and dictates your actions and beliefs. Your limiting beliefs about yourself are caused by this set point.
What is your goal with your business venture?
In most cases, your goal is ambitious and will push you out of your comfort zone. It requires that you exceed your set point.
Your brain doesn’t like that at all. Specifically, a small part of your brain called the hypothalamus uses past experiences to condition you to maintain your set point which is the crux of automatic thinking.
To have a growth mindset and succeed, you need to recondition your brain so that it finds a new set point. This point is an ambitious place, but it is where you want to be, so you could almost consider it your ideal comfort zone. One way to do this is through visualization.
Innercise™ to Make Success Tangible
Innercise™ is a mental practice that helps you to strengthen your brain and rewire it so that you think better and believe in your abilities.
Sit in a peaceful place free of interruptions. Take six deep breaths and close your eyes.
Imagine a time in the future where you have achieved your entrepreneurial goals. You can focus on one goal at a time if it’s easier for you. Visualize the scene, your place in it, and your surroundings.
Bring your attention to different parts of the image. What are you wearing? Where are you? What can you smell and see? Who else is in the scene? What are you doing? What emotions are you experiencing?
Do this Innercise™ daily for at least seven days so that you can alter the set point of your mind. The more you visualize your success, the more real it will become for you.

Achieve Your Goals Easily
Overcoming your set point is only the beginning. If you want to have your dream life, then you need to do lots more—you can’t alter your set point, sit back, and expect everything to fall into place. It is time to get the show on the road and chase success with everything in you.
Determine Your Vision
What do you want to achieve as an entrepreneur?
Write down your ideas about your ideal future so that you can have a clear vision of where you are heading.
A vision should guide your decisions and actions so that you can become successful more easily. It is the one thing you can look to whenever you feel lost or uncertain about your daily activities.
Use your vision to create goals that give you something to work toward in achieving your dreams. Your goals should be clear, ambitious, and have some sort of timeline added to them.
It can be helpful to break your goals down into smaller milestones. These “mini-goals” are much easier to achieve and will keep you motivated when times get tough or when your confidence wanes.
Create an Action Plan
The milestones and goals you set for yourself in your dream plan can be used to make an action plan. This plan should state clearly what you expect from yourself and break it down into manageable tasks.
Add in what resources you may need to get the work done. Think about the time, financial investment, and any help you may need from other parties.
Build Healthy Habits
Now that you have a clear idea of what you want from life and how you will get there, it is time to put your plan into action. The best way to do this is to make excellence a habit.
Make a commitment to yourself that you will set time aside daily to work on your plan and goals. The more you work on your milestones, the more it becomes a habit, and this will get you closer to success.
Financial Freedom Is All in Your Head
Your brain is an amazing tool with much more potential than you might have thought. All you need to do is use it more, and that takes work.
Changing your set point; creating a vision and goals; and seeing them through with an action plan is the foundation you need to become successful. It already alters your brain greatly, and there is so much more you can still do!
Reaffirm Your Beliefs
Affirmations are a useful, repetitive exercise that will help you to reprogram your brain for success. They work well to help you align your conscious and unconscious beliefs about yourself.
Create some affirmation statements for yourself and your entrepreneurial endeavors. State them in a positive way and in present terms instead of something you will achieve in the future.
Write them down and place them in an area where you can see them frequently. Read them out loud daily so that you can see and hear them.
Keep Working on Your Mindset
There is always something more you can do to improve your brain. Changing your mindset is crucial if you want to achieve your goals and make success a reality. All well-known entrepreneurs know the power of their brains and that it is a tool to set them apart from others.
What all of them have in common is a growth mindset, so this is something you can adopt, too. A growth mindset can do wonders to overcome obstacles and identify opportunities.
Continue working on your thinking and challenge your mindset continuously. Success is within your reach!
